Just wanted to relate the following Lyddie-ism, while it was still fresh.
"You see, the thing is, Tom doesn't want you to go down to his basement with the dog because now that you've fed her cookies she's likely to keep being sick and this time it might be over you [instead of, 5 minutes earlier, the dining room floor] and the last time you played with her you tried to get her to dance with you until she bit you and he's busy with other things and can't really look after the two of you at the same time."
"But MUM, do you see the POINT?"
"What point?"
"The dog has been sick ALREADY."
"Oh yeah....! Good point."
This earned her 5 minutes in the basement with Tom and the dog.
